Upon completion of her J.D. at Southern University, Mukhaye Nangalama began work as a Business Representative in the SAG-AFTRA Music Department. In her role, Mukhaye acts as an advocate for all vocalists on union sound recordings as well as a liaison between SAG-AFTRA and all signatory record labels. She works to interpret and enforce the terms of the SAG-AFTRA Sound Recordings Code license provisions. For most, she is the first point of contact after securing a license from a signatory label. She works daily with music clearance specialists, music producers, and music teams involved in all aspects of production to ensure union obligations are met for both US and foreign licensees that engage in licensing agreements with signatory record labels. Additionally, Mukhaye works to educate third party licensees, vocalists, and management to ensure that all parties have an understanding of the union process. When she is not at SAG-AFTRA, Mukhaye spends her time travelling and loving all things Beyonce!
